Best Conical Fermenters

So, you’re searching for the best conical fermenter to buy online.

If you’ve ended up here then we doubt that it’s your first brewing experience. Even if it is, don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place for your hunt.

A conical fermenter is used for the, erm, fermentation part of the brewing process. I remember visiting the famous Guinness brewery in Dublin, Ireland and being so impressed by the size of their conical fermenters.

But the size typically doesn’t matter when it comes to your homebrew.

Carry on reading our review list of the best conical fermenters to see which one is best suited for your home brewing operations.

Ss Brewtech Chronical Fermenter Stainless Steel 7 gal

Ss Brewtech Chronical Fermenter (7 gallons)

The Ss Brewtech Chronical Fermenter is hands-down one of the best conical fermenters that all home brewers would be proud to own and incorporate into their setup.

It’s an advanced piece of kit that allows for dual fermentation. This is due to the bottom dump valve allowing you to keep the harvest yeast from coming into contact with the beer.

Essentially, this means that you can do two stages of fermentation using only the Brewtech Chronical.

This fermenter also comes with a temperature control system, so you won’t have to manually test the temperature of your brew. This will make your brewing and life much simpler. The system will constantly monitor the fermentation and keep it within 1 degree celsius to what you set it as.

Another top addition is the rotatable racking arm. Not having to rack the fermentation yourself will save you a lot of time, and energy. If you are reading this and you currently rack for a second fermentation round then let us tell you it’s worth spending that bit extra on a fermenter that can handle this for you.

You can’t go wrong with the Ss Brewtech Chronical fermenter, it’s easy to clean, holds 7 gallons, and was made with dual fermentation in mind. Click here to check the price on Amazon.

Pros

  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Allows for dual fermentation
  • Racking arm part of the fermenter
  • Great for experienced home brewers

Cons

  • Expensive piece of kit

FastFerment Conical Fermenter with Wall Mount

Fastferment Conical Fermenter

Next on the list, is the first fermenter from FastFerment, a renowned winner when it comes to homebrew competitions.

This conical fermenter can hold up to 7.9 gallons of your homebrew and comes with a wall mount so that it is easy to bottle directly from it. You can say goodbye to racking and bucket to carboy transferation.

A yeast collection ball is included so that you can easily collect trub and sediment in order to make your brew as clear as possible. This can even act as a place for your yeast to harvest, meaning that it can be reused.

It has been made from high-quality BPA-free plastic which means you won’t get any nasty tastes added during the fermentation.

Also included is the bottle filling attachment that we mentioned before, this is perfect for filling bottles and kegs!

The FastFerment wall mountable conical fermenter has made it on to our list due to its ease of use and overall high-quality. FastFerment has lots of addons that you may want to purchase for it like the stainless steel hop filter or the fermentation jacket.

Pros

  • Wall mount included
  • Super easy to fill bottles or kegs
  • Great sized fermenter

Cons

  • Need to buy the floor stand separately if you don’t want to attach it to the wall

FastFerment 3 Gallon

Fastferment 3 gallon fermenter

So, here is the second conical fermenter from FastFerment. As you can see from the image and title, this one is much smaller. Don’t interpret that to mean that it’s not as good. It means it’s used for different sized batches and also perfect for splitting larger batches.

This fermenter is still made from the same high-quality BPA free plastic. As it has the same design as its larger brother, the large mouth and shaped funnel means that sediment can be eliminated and yeast harvested.

Instead of a wall mount with this FastFerment option, included is a floor stand so that it can be easily operated. I prefer the floor stand to the wall mount as it makes the initial setup much quicker.

We would highly recommend this conical fermenter for the absolute beginner brewer. It would be a great way to ease yourself into learning the basics of brewing.

Pros

  • Ability to easy rid of sediment
  • Comes with floor stand for easy usability
  • High-grade BPA-free plastic used

Cons

BrewDemon Conical Fermenter

BrewDemon Conical Fermenter

Here we have a conical fermenter that was specifically designed and built by BrewDemon. Due to them already offering a 2 gallon recipe they thought it would make sense to build a custom fermenter for it.

Just because it was specifically made for BrewDemon doesn’t mean that you can’t brew other recipe types in it. In fact, the way that it has been designed means that little trub will come in contact with your finished beer. To me, that makes it excellent for any brewer wanting to make a small batch.

It has been built with BPA-free professional grade PVC like all other non stainless steel conical fermenters.

BrewDemon are so confident in their product that they even offer you a 2 years warranty, which includes a customer support line.

This BrewDemon conical fermenter kit comes in either clear or amber plastic. It is an ideal piece of kit for a beginner, it even comes with a temperature gauge stuck on.

Pros

  • High-quality PVC used
  • Designed specifically for BrewDemon
  • Less trub found in finished brew

Cons

  • Only suitable for small batches

Blichmann Fermenator

Blichmann Fermenator-F3

Time for another stainless steel giant fermenter on the list. Now we look at the Blichmann Fermenator, the terminator of the conical fermenters.

This is an expensive piece of kit, and should only be considered if you’re able to spend over the $500 mark, otherwise we advise choosing another.

One of the key selling points to this conical fermenter is the fact that it has been built weld-free, both the interior and fittings. This means that it is easier to clean and you won’t have bacteria harvesting in your brew.

It can be used for all types of brewing, beer, cider, wine, kombucha and so on. It’s important to note though that if you’re using it for beer then 11 gallon batches are the maximum.

If you are looking for a conical fermenter for part of a full-scale brewery then the Blichmann Fermenator is a perfect fit.

Pros

  • Weld-free build
  • Easy to keep clean
  • Brewery quality stainless steel

Cons

  • Very expensive!

Fermentasaurus Conical Fermenter

Fermenasaurus Conical Fermenter

Time for the FERMENTASAURUS! Not only does this conical fermenter have a great name, but it’s also a game changer.

This conical fermenter is one of the largest plastic ones around. You don’t get much bigger unless you get a stainless steel one.

Included in the kit is everything you need to get going, yeast collection ball, dump valve, floor stand, airlock lid and obviously the conical fermenter.

I’d say that the design isn’t as elegant as some of the others we’ve listed here, however, the look doesn’t affect the taste of the brew.

Due to its size it makes it easy to bottle straight from the fermenter. The kit includes a bottling attachment so you won’t have to purchase that separately.

Pros

  • The kit comes with everything you need
  • Design built to naturally carbonate the brew
  • High-grade PET plastic used

Cons

  • Not easy to clean

Product Specifications

Capacity9.25 Gallons
MaterialHighly-specialized PET plastic
